FX Loops

The Revelation's FX loop system is arguably the most transparent, comprehensive and flexible loop system in any guitar amp in the world. In short, it is an integrated true-bypass FX switching system, which can operate in any mode, at any level, with any type of effect.

The initial versions of the amp featured a single tube buffered loop. With the addition of MIDI switching capability, the number of loops was increased to 4 series loops. Not content with these simple loops, and not happy with the way that the effects in different loops affected each other, we modified the loops to include high quality, ultra low noise buffering circuitry per loop, which is switched in and out with each individual loop. Send levels were added, along with an effects level switch and a mix control, to create the final loop design.

Quite often, an FX loops is an after thought, or a simple "marketing-department-said-we-must-have-one" kind of affair. They're often poorly designed, not useable with guitar effects, and in 99% of cases colour your guitar sound in an unacceptable way. Guitarists, whilst recognising the importance of having a loop in a modern amp design, often avoid using them because frankly, they just don't work very well. At last with the Revelation, you have a loop switching system which works! In the Revelation, the FX loops are no mere afterthought. They are a very important part of the amplifier. In fact, approximately 25% of the amp's circuitry is dedicated to the FX loop system.

In terms of the performance of these loops, they are arguably the most transparent FX loops in the world. As a worst-case scenario, they have a frequency response of 15Hz to30KHz, +/-0.5db. What this means is that the guitarists will not hear any colouration of your guitar tone.

The Revelation's intelligent loop system operates in two ways:

- If you're using MIDI, every program can be set to switch on or off any loop.

- If you're using standard mode (non-MIDI), each channel automatically remembers which loops you've assigned to it (indicated by the yellow LED next to the loop number being on) , an activates these loops when you press the "FX" button on your footswitch (indicated by the Green "FX" LED being on)

Other Features.

- Using the send level control, you can set the loop up so that when you turn that loop on, it also cuts or boosts your volume.

- You can also use the send level to compensate for effects that seem to loose a bit of signal level.

- Each loop in the Revelation is internally bridged, so if you accidentally forget to plug your effects in at the gig and you turn that loop on, you at least don't loose your guitar signal. You still get the dry signal.

- Because of the internal bridge, you can use an FX loops as another master volume control by not plugging an effect in that loop, and using the send level control to change the amp's volume when the loop is engaged.
